Just in time for Midnight Madness – when NCAA men’s basketball teams can begin practice – comes the first gameplay video featuring the two announcing teams in this year’s NCAA Basketball 10.
Unfortunately, CBS’s Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery are a bit thin and generic in their commentary – but in their first year, it’s to be expected, as they don’t benefit from the kind of dialogue library built up that Brad Nessler and Dick Vitale have. This is too bad because Gus in real life is constantly …

Brendan Harris’ groundout to end Minnesota’s American League Divisional Series with New York started a 171-day clock until the christening of the Twins’ new ballpark, Target Field. Sony’s MLB The Show will have to have the grounds ready much sooner.
New stadium construction is not just a problem knotting up state legislatures and city councils. Any sports title developer – any that presents its game as a true-to-life simulation, anyway – must also cope with changes of venue. In the current console generation, baseball has seen this more often than its …

Today’s coupons roundup contains a bunch of reminders of ongoing sales you may have heard about. They might not be breaking news, but they’re definitely where you should be looking first if you’re looking for new games.
Hardware • Technically not a sale, although the $349.99, 250 GB PS3 Slim could be construed as getting another 130 GB of hard drive space for just $50. Amazon has it listed, release date is Nov. 3 but you probably already knew that. [Dealzon]
• If you need hardware other than a hard drive, there …

In case you didn’t know, the name of this site is Kotaku. Did you know that? Some people don’t, they just click wildly around the internet like a pyromaniac in a straw factory.
Kotaku isn’t a real Japanese word, it’s a word somebody (not me!) made up many years ago. “Ko” in Japanese (小) means “small”. “Otaku” has a couple meanings, but here it refers to someone who is obsessively interested in something. But shouldn’t the site’s name then be “Kootaku”? Shuddup.
There are many types of otaku: train otaku, anime …

‘You’ve got a lot of people who’ve proposed a lot of side projects,” says Mötorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister, “and this is one I thought was a good idea.” With that endörsement, plus Ozzy’s, how the fü— could this be wrong?

Carnage was pretty cool, but I’m really glad Psylocke’s getting a shot at Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.
I think my favorite Psylocke moment is when she breaks up with Archangel because they’re “too different.” I mean, come on — that’s lamer than the “I think we should see other people” breakup line. Especially so because they’re both X-Men; being “too different” is kind of their thing.
Anyway, here’s a trailer:

Video Games | Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 | Psylocke Character Vignette
XBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii

Illegitimately obtained early copies of Forza Motorsport 3 or Borderlands, being played online over Xbox Live, have resulted in permabans for the accounts of offending players, Microsoft has confirmed.
The Microsoft chief of police Stephen Toulouse has said that his enforcement team is inspecting early play and applying permabans only to those with illegitimately obtained early copies of either game. Those who got their copy because a retailer broke street date are safe, Stepto says.
“Don’t worry folks, anyone who bought a copy early is ok. In general, if you got a …

Swedish hip hop artist Pato Pooh leaves no 8-bit game untouched in this amazing video for his latest track “Follow Me.”
I’m not generally one for rap music alone, but combine it with just about every other genre and I’m sold, and that includes chiptune. This video for “Follow Me” by Pato Pooh ft. Adam Tensta captures the spirit of the awesome genre merger perfectly, with old-school 8-bit graphics given an amazing hip hop makeover.
Thanks to everyone who sent in the tip!
