Tim Langdell, the CEO of EDGE Games, which has been at the heart of many controversies regarding trademark rights to the word “Edge” in video gaming, has stepped down from the board of directors of the International Game Developers Association.
The IGDA announced Langdell’s resignation in a brief statement this morning. In an email to Kotaku, IGDA Executive Director Joshua Caulfield said Langdell resigned voluntarily and was not asked to. The worldwide leader in family entertainment is about to get a great deal more entertaining, as the Walt Disney Company agrees to acquire iconic comic book company Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion.
More than 5,000 iconic comic book characters will soon be in the hands of Disney, raising serious questions about the future of Marvel video game titles from Activision, Sega, THQ, and the upcoming MMO from Gazillion Entertainment. Mega-retailer Best Buy are having one heck of an Xbox 360 games sale at the moment: buy a 360 game, get a second one for half price.
Best part being it’s not limited to a selection of old, unwanted games. It’s limited to, well, 232 Xbox 360 games, awesome to bad and everything in between. Even upcoming games, like Modern Warfare 2 and Brutal Legend.

PS3 “soul breeding” game Record of Agarest War is being released in Europe by Ghostlight. The publisher has entertained two choices for box art.
The Japanese original and the new, more realistic “Westernized” 3D art. Can you guess which is which? (Don’t let the PEGI rating give the answer away!)

The Entertainment Software Association released its annual report last week, and it shows a very impressive winning streak against anti-games legislation at the state level in the U.S.
In the ESA’s last fiscal year, state legislatures introduced 43 bills that would have regulated the content or access to video games. No bill regulating sales became law. The most notable failures came in Utah, California and New Mexico.
