Headstrong, developer of House of the Dead: Overkill, thinks they can. In this video, the creative staff discuss the game’s grindhouse style and how this won’t necessarily be a rail shooter.
Of course, this isn’t the first M-rated game for the Wii. Seventeen titles have gotten it for “Blood and Gore” even. But it’s definitely a departure from the stereotype, especially for a Wii exclusive. Given House of the Dead‘s long legacy as an arcade shooter, it’s probably the only machine for which this type of game could be developed. It’ll …

Super Bowl’s on this weekend. People are excited. Few as excited as Microsoft seem to be, as they’ve just announced that, all day Sunday, Xbox Live will be going bananas for all things football.
For the 24 hours that encompass the day, Microsoft will be setting up a dedicated Xbox Live “channel” called “Football Fanfare”, which will collect everything football-related that’s ever set foot on the service. Movies, TV shows, Madden tips, the works.
Just in case you’d rather watch Any Given Sunday than the real pre-game entertainment. Remember, though: watch Any …

Some people are beginning to seriously question whether the Wii bubble has burst. They may be right, they may be wrong, either way, investors are listening. And investors seem to be taking it all on board.
Following comments made by analysts such as Hiroshi Kamide yesterday, Nintendo share prices started falling. And falling. And falling some more. Why? Kamide got the ball rolling yesterday with concerns over Wii sales, and Ichiyoshi Investment Management’s Mitsushige Akino continues today with:
Nintendo shares have enjoyed a certain premium as people thought the company would do …

The Game Gate VU, unveiled this week at the Amusement Trade Exhibition International in London, is a device that will let arcade operators charge people to play console video games.
That’s right, it’s essentially a Neo-Geo-esque demo station with a coin slot acceptor. Though it does look like this machine will also sport online support through iGames. To make the set up a sweeter deal for companies like Microsoft and Sony, the system will come with a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 that will need a special activation key and …

EVE Online players had better start gearing up for battle now, as the Apocrypha expansion unleashes a whole new breed of tougher non-player character enemies upon the universe.
Combat versus NPCs in EVE Online has generally been a rather simple affair, requiring the player merely target the enemy, start firing, and wait for them to explode. With the upcoming Apocrypha expansion to the massively multiplayer online game, that’s all about to change.
…for Apocrypha, we are unleashing an ancient race into the universe: the infamous Sleepers, lurking throughout the …

We’ve already seen the trailer and been properly prepared by Nintendo Power‘s own teasing, so the cover treatment given to Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings isn’t exactly a shocker. But we’ll take it!
The March issue of Nintendo Power promises the first (print, we assume) look at LucasArts’ next Indy adventure, in which we’ll crack whips, solve puzzles, dodge traps and… throw octopuses.
We don’t know much about the game other than LucasArts’ alleged plans to publish it on the Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2 and PSP.
Nintendo Power is also …

Looking for something to do that’s not work-related while at work? Kill your output with Perfect Balance, a brilliantly simple block-stacker that renders one useless as an employee.
Yes, very sorry about that, Mr. Crecente. But this is a fantastic diversion if you’re stuck gazing into a monitor all day. Simply arrange the pieces on whatever platform is provided, ensuring that nothing falls down. Thinking caps will be required. I’m currently about halfway through the game’s 40 levels and it’s beginning to venture into slightly maddening territory.
Just don’t get fired playing …

Those who are in the market for a new controller — or are just feeling an overwhelming surge of Street Fighter IV excitement that only spending money can satisfy — should hit up the Capcom Store. Why? Because everything is currently 10% off retail.
Admittedly, you’ll have to do some work to get the 10% off, but the process is as easy as: 1) Add an item to your cart. 2) Exit the shopping cart screen by clicking towards the storefront. 3) A pop-up appears …

It is no secret that the Xbox 360 is not Japan’s gaming console of choice. Just look at 2008′s software sales and you’ll spot just one Xbox 360 game in Japan’s top 100. But that doesn’t mean Microsoft’s Japanese situation is a complete lost cause, because console sales are actually on the rise (year over year) and some games have sold rather well.
Gamezine.co.uk put together a list of the top 30 Xbox 360 games sold in Japan, and sitting proudly on top is none other than Blue Dragon …
